History of all the world is long and full of unpredictable turnovers. On the annals of history we have seen many wares and conflicts between countries, but would one language refrain them from fighting? I believe no.
As we look back at the history and take closer look at what happened before uniting of the states, we clearly see that one spoken language is not enough. Different views on slavery between industrial North and the farming South were too big, what to a war. What happened then, dont need to be told, we all know.
Present times, on the other hand, are not so different. We live in a world, where almost everyone, from childhood to adultery, has contact with one language - English . But does it make international relations calm and good? Certainly not, and proofs of that can be seen in our everyday life. Evening news are full of information about conflicts all over the world, no matter the place, Afghanistan, Irak , and recently even Spain.
To summarize, I doubt that one language would make international relations better, There is much more to be done. The first step, I think, should be the ability to "speak" between countries as equal partners, as well as ability to compromise - not to stand stiffly on my side. These are my simple suggestions, however international relations are so hard part of life, that we should start from simple steps to make our world better and more safe.
